Jazz Band & Cash Bar??
The image below is a Power Point Slide that together with 37 other charts
were presented to the Board of Education during the appeal process.
The Board was adamant that they could not use any discretion or judgment
in the case of the 8 students that were expelled. They had to enforce
their policy to its extreme.
One week after the expulsions the Jazz Band was playing at a benefit
that included a cash bar. Following their strict interpretation of their
policy, this is a black and white violation of it. Yet in this case they
could use discretion but not in the case of the 8 students. Students
with no legacy of discipline problems and who self reported their offense.
They did not offer any explanation for this discrepancy.
